Female Genital Surgery
INNER AND OUTER VAGINAL LIPS
Labiaplasty or Ninfoplastia is a strictly aesthetic procedure that beautifies the female vaginal lips without changing their functionality. It beautifies your privacy and reduces the problems caused by the possible dissatisfaction of having very large or hanging inner vaginal lips. It reduces the size of the hypertrophic (overdeveloped) or hanging inner vaginal lips.
It corrects asymmetries (differences from one side to the other) or too irregular shapes that often occur in the inner vaginal lips. It revitalizes and gives a fresher look to the aged or sagging outer vaginal lips, by injecting fat (lipofilling), which allows us at the same time to decrease the size of the opening of the vaginal introitus when it is too wide.
The length of the inner vaginal lips that are too long will be reduced so that they acquire a smooth harmonious appearance. If the excessive length affects just one sector, it reduces only that sector in order to achieve a symmetrical result.
If the length affects both lips, reduction will be applied to both lips. By injecting the patient’s own fat aspirated with syringes, the turgor that has been lost will be returned to the flabby inner lips and the volume of the outer lips will be increased in order to give them more definition.
The anesthesia can be local or epidural and the patient may be awake or asleep under sedative effects. The surgery takes about one to two hours. It does not require hospitalization. It is an outpatient procedure.
Labiaplasty results are permanent. Your vaginal lips will have a more harmonious and pleasing appearance that will probably make you feel more comfortable and safer. If the patient feels uncomfortable while using certain tight clothes such as swimsuits, for example, fearing that the shape of her genitals would show through her clothing, after labiaplasty, she will wear those garments more calmly.
The ideal time for surgery in the genital area is immediately after completion of menstruation of the corresponding month. Thus, when the next menstruation occurs, the tissues will have already been recovered. If menstrual bleeding occurs before complete healing of the wounds, surgery may be performed as well, but it would increase your discomfort and risk of infection.
You do not need any special preparation and may continue with your usual sexual activity until the day before surgery.
It is advisable that you ask your surgeon all the necessary questions in order to remove your doubts and alleviate your natural fears that anyone may feel before surgery.
This surgical procedure does not require more than a simple dressing bandage on the vulva.
The threads will not be removed as we will use absorbable suture.
Bruising and swelling are minimal.
The scars are very small in all cases and, thanks to the excellent healing characteristics of the tissues in the area, they will shortly become almost imperceptible.
You will have to rest for 24 hours, during which you can walk around the house. In the following days, you will be able to resume your activities progressively. Some asymmetries may result in the end (differences in size and shape between the two lips), which are always minor and correctable.
There may be some infections, although very rare.
There may be pathological scars, hematomas, seromas and temporary alterations in sensitivity that usually correct themselves.
VAGINOPLASTY – VAGINAL REJUVENATION
This surgical procedure has the purpose of reducing the vaginal canal space and restoring the lost tone to the vaginal muscles due to childbirth or aging, promoting friction during penetration and possibly increasing the pleasure of the woman and her partner during sexual intercourse.
Women of all ages may do this.
We will make two incisions inside the vagina, but if the degree of sagging is low, only a longitudinal strip of mucosal tissue will be trimmed and removed, and then, we will use suture in order to attach the resulting edges together. If the degree of sagging is high, we will make a fold of the muscles that are exposed through the same incisions in the mucosa, resulting in increased tension and holding capacity of the muscles.
The use of epidural or general anesthesia is recommended if the patient wants it. It lasts approximately from one to two hours. After a few hours, you will be able to walk without any hassle and if you want, you may continue your sexual activity in the next six weeks. There is little pain and you can handle it very well with common analgesics. Swelling and bruising are usually not important. The scars are inside the vagina and, over time, they remain unnoticed, even to the touch. The threads will not be removed as we will use absorbable suture.
The ideal time for surgery in the genital area is immediately after completion of menstruation of the corresponding month so that when the next menstruation occurs, the tissues will have already been healed. If menstrual bleeding occurs before complete healing of the wounds, it would not be a serious complication, surgery may be performed, but it would increase your discomfort and risk of infection.
There is no problem in relation to your usual sexual activity, so you may continue with it until the day before surgery and resume it after four to six weeks.
